Squares, Triangles and Simple Applique
A beautiful and simple floral wall quilt
Measures 44 by 62 inches
This quilt can be soft and pretty or sensationally dramatic. This is the soft version. The appliqué is placed on a soft pink and white pieced background and the alternate rows, made up of a block known as a Schoolgirl’s Puzzle uses fabrics in similar colours as the flowers. I made this quilt from scraps except for the appliquéd vines and leaves. A sensible person using fat quarters or strips of fabric would strip piece the appliqué background, but I did not. The main reason why I individually pieced these blocks was because I had 250 white rectangles from a previous quilt that had been cut ½ an inch too short. Fortunately they were okay for this quilt when I trimmed them back, but meant more time consuming piecing. I will give instructions for both methods.
